Purification Technology For Making The Purity of N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide Greater Than 99%

N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide, also known as methylene bisacrylamide, referred to as MBA, is the superior product of Yacoo Science. As a chemical reagent, N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide has a wide range of uses. It is a cross-linking agent with stable quality, high purity and good performance that is widely used in the market.

There are manypreparation process of N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide. We have introduced four main methods before, including acrylonitrile method, acrylamide and formaldehyde method, acrylamide and paraformaldehyde method and N-Hydroxymethylbisacrylamide method [1]. However, the purity of N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide produced by these methods is generally lower than 95%. To further promote the application of N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide, the concentration needs to be increased. Yunchao Huang et al. reported a preparation method to increase the concentration of N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide to above 99.9% while ensuring a high yield.

First, a 93%-purity N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide and organic mixed solution was heated at 70-80°C to form a clear solution. The organic mixed solution is a mixed solvent formed by mixing isobutyl isobutyrate, dimethylformamide or dimethylacetamide with monohydric alcohol in a ratio of (24:76)-(36:64) by volume and ethanol . This step is conducive to the dissolution of N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide, and at the same time enlarges the temperature difference of recrystallization, improves the purity and yield of purification, and can save purification time.

Then, filter the clarified solution while it is hot, which can ensure that the solids removed by filtration are incompatible solids, improve the purification yield of N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide, and filter while hot to reduce N,N'-Asia The precipitation of methacrylamide further guarantees the purification yield. Then recrystallize in an environment of -4 to 0°C, and then filter to obtain solid N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide, followed by washing and drying to obtain high-purity N,N'-methylenebis Acrylamide.

This method can not only ensure the yield and purity of N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide purification, but also the solvent used is easier to recover, reducing the waste of resources.
